In early 1915 the Committee members of the Bacup Natural History Society sent out war comfort parcels to those “Nat” members who were serving in the forces. Each parcel included a letter informing them they had been included in the “ Nat Roll of Honour “ along with a poem penned by Shepster a poet well known and loved by Bacup folk. Some of the recipetents wrote letters of thanks and these were put into the book shown above which I recently found in one of our many cupboards.
Throughout the war the Bacup Times reported weekly on the progress of the war. Frequently printing letters and stories from serving soldiers. The following is just a selection of these articles.
